No More Flash!

Early in 2010, Apple announced it would not support Flash in its products. Shortly after, Microsoft signaled the end of Silverlight (a Flash-like plugin) and stated that Internet Explorer 10 would no longer support any browser plugins, including Flash. The industry was clearly moving toward HTML5. New tools like Adobe Edge were introduced to support the shift, yet no broadband speed tests had embraced HTML5. Most still relied on Flash or Java plugins.

SpeedOf.Me Was Born

In December 2011, we launched the first HTML5-based broadband speed test. SpeedOf.Me is a pure HTML5 and JavaScript solution that relies entirely on browser-native technologies. It runs seamlessly on any device with a modern browser: phones, tablets, laptops, TVs, and more. No plugins, no downloads. Just a simple, accurate speed test in your browser.
