SpeedOf.Me has measured real-world internet speed in the browser since 2011. This page collects who relies on it and what they say, naming the source for each and linking it wherever there is a page to link to, with the press kit at the end. None of it is a partnership: each entry is that organization's own editorial, support or research choice.
The California Public Utilities Commission's broadband infrastructure grant rules name SpeedOf.Me as an accepted commercially available speed test. Under Decision 22-11-023 an applicant "may provide CalSPEED tests (or other commercially available speed tests, e.g., https://speedof.me) to show actual speeds or denials of service", evidence that can be used to dispute the California Broadband Map, and the same wording appears in the progress reporting rules and on the grant completion report every grantee files.

Consumers reach for it unprompted for the same purpose. SpeedOf.Me results appear in complaints Americans filed with the FCC about speeds below those advertised, throttling and inconsistent service, published by the Commission in its FOIA releases: one complainant pasted a SpeedOf.Me share link as their evidence, another attached their SpeedOf.Me history, and others named it among the independent tests they checked against their provider's own. Also named in the support pages of ABCmouse (whose parent, Age of Learning, tells schools to run it while students are on devices), Tyler Technologies (court e-filing) and National Capital FreeNet, and by university help desks including Harvard, Kansas State and Virginia Commonwealth.
Internet providers recommend it too, which is worth its own line: an ISP has every reason to send customers to a test that flatters it, and ours reads lower than most. It is also used where a connection has to be checked before something important happens: the Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (University of Virginia) tells schools to check wireless speed at speedof.me in its technical tips (PDF), and IDEXX lists it in the technical overview for Neo, its cloud veterinary software, among the sites a practice can use to check it has the throughput the application needs (PDF).
A different kind of citation: not "here is a speed test", but our measurements reported as an industry data source. The Internet Speed Atlas has been covered by the IT and telecom trade press in three countries.
The dataset behind all three is public and free to reuse under CC BY 4.0: median download, upload and latency for 119 countries and 39 US states, with CSV and JSON downloads on every page. Why our numbers read lower than on-net tests is answered in full on Real-World Speed.
Networking researchers have reverse-engineered, measured and described the SpeedOf.Me method, and cite it as one of the reference designs for browser-based speed testing. All of it is peer-reviewed except the workshop and project pages, which are marked as such.
One honest note. Some of this work scores every test against a saturated, multi-stream peak. SpeedOf.Me deliberately measures a single stream on the open internet, the speed a download or a video call actually gets, and it reads lower on that ruler by design. Cite these papers as documenting the method, not as validating a score, and read what Real-World Speed measures for the comparison.

Boilerplate. SpeedOf.Me is a browser-based internet speed test, measuring real-world download, upload, latency and jitter since December 2011 with nothing to install.
